Simply Smarter Limited has been formed by a group of amateur golfers who have a shared passion for improving services for golfers. Each member of the team is successful in their own right and their skills have blended together to produce a unique company with first class business skills - but most of all with a united passion for golf.
Sam Thompson - Managing Director
Sam is a senior technical consultant with the world's leading computer company. Sam branched out from the UK division to set up and develop a successful Scottish team which has built a client base from scratch in Scotland. Sam's dual interests in information technology and golf have now fused to produce www.GolfCentral.co.uk, the most exciting technological development in Scottish Golf for years.
Sam started playing golf aged 7 and is a member at Kingussie Golf Club.
Alison Thompson - Company Secretary
Alison is a Legal 500 lawyer at the top of her profession. She and 4 of the partners in her firm are recognised as "Leaders in their field" in Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession. Alison has built up her firm's business by using essential marketing and business skills in a competitive environment.
Alison is a member at Kingussie Golf Club and enjoys mixed competitions.
Karine Burns - Training & Development
Karine is a business consultant and has worked for many organisations in the corporate and public sectors, incuding Motorola and Scottish Enterprise. Karine brings extensive business development and strategic marketing skills to the team. She is experienced in developing strategies to promote companies both at local and international level.
Karine has been a member of the Williamwood Golf Club since a junior and is also a member of Lamlash Golf Club, Arran.
Alan Thompson - Web & Database Developer
Alan started web site development while undertaking his computing degree at Glasgow University. After graduating, Alan specialised in virtual tour techniques, web design and development for hotels and inns. This has eveolved into producing large scale online database packages for private and public sector clients.
Alan is new to golf and currently spend many hours at the driving range.
Paul Miller - Marketing & Sales
Paul has worked in the golf industry since 1988, and in greenkeeping and golf management education since the early 1990s. Now focusing on education and training within golf club management, Paul has aquired considerable experience of the sector, through direct contact with golf clubs. A member of the Scottish Board of the Clubs managers Association of Europe, Paul is uniquely placed to appreciate the needs of golf providers, and has spoken at conferences throughout the UK and overseas. Paul participates in the junior golf coaching programe.
Paul is a member of the New Golf Club in St Andrews.
Hamish Thompson - Support & Admin
Hamish is a retired lecturer who specialised for 10 years in the development of educational web site for interactive use. Hamish has acquired a wealth of knowledge of many different types of computer programs. He also acts as a consultant on pedagogical issues for online developers.
Hamish has been a member of the Old Course Ranfurly for 25 years.
